Federal legislation honoring fallen Dundee soldier signed into law

Thomas F. O'Mara

Last summmer, Senator O'Mara was privileged to have the opportunity, together with Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, to secure the enactment of a new law naming a portion of State Route 14A between the town of Reading in Schuyler County and the village of Dundee in Yates County as the “Christopher J. Scott Memorial Highway.”

The designation honors the memory and pays tribute to the life and service of United States Army Specialist Christopher J. Scott, a Dundee High School graduate, who was killed on September 3, 2011 while serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Senator O'Mara and Assemlbyman Palmesano are now equally pleased that federal legislation -- sponsored by Congressman Tom Reed and United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand -- to rename the Tryone Post Office in honor of Spc. Scott, has been signed into law by President Barack Obama.
