For more than a decade, thanks to the efforts of the American Heart Association's "Go Red For Women Campaign," the first Friday in February (which this year is today, February 7, 2014) has been designated "National Wear Red Day" to raise awareness and promote education over the fact that heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women.

Since 2003, National Wear Red Day has united millions to support efforts that have saved lives and improved the health of thousands upon thousands of women across America.
