O'Mara holding community meetings in Steuben, Tompkins counties this week

Thomas F. O'Mara

Elmira, N.Y., February 11—New York State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) today reminded area residents that he will hold community meetings later this week on:

> Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Franziska Racker Centers in Ithaca (3226 Wilkins Road).  The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m.; and

> Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Wayland Town Hall (17 North Main Street) beginning at 5:30 p.m.  O'Mara will be joined by state Assemblyman Bill Nojay (R,I-Lakeview).

O’Mara recently began a series of community meetings that he plans to hold throughout his 58th Senate District during 2014.  O’Mara’s 58th Senate District encompasses Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates counties, and a portion of Tompkins County (the city and town of Ithaca, and the towns of Enfield, Newfield and Ulysses).

The meetings are informal and open to the public.  They’re designed to give local residents an opportunity to directly share their concerns, opinions and suggestions for better government.

“It’s an opportunity for area residents to learn more about and contribute to this year’s challenges and debates over taxes, regulations, mandates, economic development, health care, education and other key issues," O’Mara said.  “Community meetings offer the kind of direct give and take that’s fundamental to effective government.”

O’Mara stressed that any local residents unable to attend this week’s meetings can contact him directly to share specific concerns and suggestions.
