'Volunteers needed to identify hydrilla'

From the Ithaca Journal, "The Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom, in collaboration with the Finger Lakes Institute and Cayuga Lake Watershed Network, is launching an on-the-water training program for individuals who are willing to look for hydrilla verticillata and other invasive species on Cayuga Lake and neighboring lakes."

During the 2014 legislative session, Senator O'Mara and Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton of Ithaca sponsored legislation to help prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species throughout New York State's lakes, rivers and streams.  The legisaltion was approved by both houses of the Legislature and will soon be delivered to Governor Andrew Cuomo for final action.
