The state Senate passed a bill Monday banning all toxic PFAS chemicals in firefighting foams used and manufactured in New York.

The bill will also require written documentation of any per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, chemicals found in firefighting equipment at the time of sale, according to a news release from Sen. James Skoufis, who co-sponsored the bill...

“My district has been afflicted by PFAS contaminations and enough is enough,” Skoufis said. “I’m sick and tired of my constituents’ right to clean and safe water continuously being threatened.”
