WWII airman leading charge to give half-priced MetroCards to New York veterans

“We’ve got a whole generation of guys that went to war who were treated pretty poorly when they came back,” said State Sen. John Brooks (D-Long Island), the bill’s chief sponsor in the Senate. “It (the half-priced fare program) is not an overly expensive thing, and it’s a way of saying thank you to someone who served.”
