Subways stations renamed after Medgar Evers College

Legislations recently signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo renames two subway stations in Crown Heights, Brooklyn after Medgar Evers College.

The legislation, sponsored by Assemblywoman Diana Richardson and Sen. Zellnor Myrie, directs the MTA to append the college’s name to both the Franklin Avenue and President Street stops, making their new names “Franklin Avenue––Medgar Evers College” and “President Street––Medgar Evers College.”

“Renaming these stations to recognize Medgar Evers College will literally put one of our community’s most cherished institutions on the map,” Myrie said. “This is an honor to the history of our community, the legacy of the civil rights leader Medgar Evers, and the school that bears his name.
