New Hyde Park Memorial High School student Desmari Miller has been selected as a distinguished honoree by New York State Senator Anna M. Kaplan as part of her Black History Month Celebration.

Each year, Senator Kaplan hosts this celebration to highlight the contributions of African Americans in the community. As part of this event, the senator recognizes local students who demonstrate leadership, are a role model for their peers and enhance and promote the positive image of African Americans in the school and community.
