Op-ed: Improving New York's democracy through public financing

As chair of the Senate Elections Committee, I’m proud of the work we’ve done to make our elections more fair and more accessible. From creating early voting to the landmark John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act, we’ve done so much to improve voting and elections in New York. The new campaign finance system is a natural extension of that work. And I know that the system will continue to evolve and be refined over time.
