Senator James Skoufis (D, Cornwall) has awarded a grant of $125,000 to the Town of Tuxedo to support the reimagination of Powerhouse Park.

The senator met with Supervisor David McMillen and local leaders to discuss plans for the park’s future. A piece of land located near both the river and train station, the town plans to turn the existing park into a place that will be a community and visitor landmark for generations.

While ambitious, the town plans to embark on the plans in phases, ensuring the park remains usable throughout the process.

“The Town of Tuxedo has a clear vision for this project, and I’m happy to aid in the process through this state funding,” Skoufis said. “Everyone is excited about these plans, and I can see why. What town officials have envisioned for this far-reaching project will serve Tuxedo for generations to come.”

Town officials will soon be soliciting public input on their plans and expect to see the first phase completed by fall 2025.

“We are thrilled to start work on Powerhouse Park and see it realize its potential as a resident and tourist destination,” Supervisor McMillen said. The grant will be used to begin phase one of the project, he said.
