‘This is not fair’; Staten Island NAACP, clergy join push against NYC congestion pricing
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — What’s best for affluent Manhattan communities doesn’t serve the interests of North Shore residents, a group of local leaders said Friday at Borough Hall, St. George.
Jasmine Robinson, an elected district leader for the North Shore Assembly District and acting president for the local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), joined North Shore clergy in voicing their opposition to New York’s congestion pricing plan.
At the Borough Hall press conference, Robinson, Carolina, and Brown joined Borough President Vito Fossella, United Federation of Teachers (UFT) President Michael Mulgrew, State Sen. Jessica Scarcella Spanton (D-North Shore/South Brooklyn), Assemblyman Michael Tannousis (R-East Shore/South Brooklyn), and Councilman Joseph Borelli (R-South Shore).
