Pride Festival set for Saturday on Staten Island
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Pride Month officially kicks off in New York City on Saturday, and the Pride Center of Staten Island plans to ring in the occasion with yet another an inclusive event.
The Pride Festival, an annual family-friendly gathering, will take to Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden in Livingston. Staten Island state Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton will serve as grand marshal, and James Wright will serve as junior marshal.
“I am looking forward to kicking off Pride month as the grand marshal of the Staten Island Pride Festival this year,” said Scarcella-Spanton. “I have always stood alongside the Pride Center of Staten Island in its fight for an inclusive Staten Island St. Patrick’s parade and will continue to work alongside them to support the LGBTQ+ community.
