STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-North Shore/Southern Brooklyn) recently passed a resolution commemorating the 17th anniversary of Kosova’s Declaration of Independence, with State Assembly Member Charles Fall similarly advocating for its passage in the Assembly.

State Sen. Scarcella-Spanton welcomed friends and constituents from Staten Island to the New York Senate to celebrate Kosova’s Independence Day, recognize their rich history, and honor their independence.

“Recognizing Kosova’s hard-won independence in Albany holds special meaning, especially knowing how many Kosovar constituents I have the privilege of serving,” said State Sen. Scarcella-Spanton. “Kosova’s declaration of independence in 2008 was a culmination of years of struggle, sacrifice, and perseverance. It is a testament to the strength and resilience of its people, and I am more committed than ever to advocating for the Kosovar community and standing with them in solidarity.”
