Poughkeepsie awarded $10 million for revitalization; two villages split millions more

New York Secretary of State Walter Mosely joined elected and civic leaders on the Poughkeepsie waterfront on Tuesday to announce the latest winners of Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) grants and funding from NY Forward. The City of Poughkeepsie is the latest recipient of $10 million in DRI funding, joining previous cities of Middletown, Kingston, New Rochelle, Haverstraw, Ossining, and Port Jervis, which have received funding in one of the first seven rounds of the DRI program that began in 2016.
Poughkeepsie Mayor Yvonne Flowers said, “I’ve witnessed years of careful planning and community collaboration that led us to completing a new comprehensive plan, which provided us with a blueprint for the growth of our city,” while crediting former mayor Rob Rolison, who spent seven years as mayor of Poughkeepsie before being elected to the State Senate. “This is what cooperation and collaboration looks like,” she said.
