The Rochester City School District near Lake Ontario voted on Thursday evening to hire Poughkeepsie City School District Superintendent Dr. Eric Rosser.  Rosser came to Poughkeepsie from the Buffalo City School District in the summer of 2019.  His first contract, which expired on August 4, 2022, was worth $205,000 annually.

Rosser’s last day in Poughkeepsie is June 30, 2025 and the school board will appoint Gregory Mott as Acting Interim Superintendent beginning July 1, 2025.

During his tenure in Poughkeepsie, Rosser worked closely with Senator Rob Rolison, who was the mayor of the city at the time.  The two men helped create the Children’s Cabinet, inspired by Poughkeepsie High School alumnus Robert Watson, who invited the men to a summit at Harvard University.
