Aspire of Western New York will add to its high level of service to people with developmental disabilities, thanks to a $25,000 grant obtained by State Senator Cathy Young (R,I,C-Olean).

The grant will be used for the purchase of a wheelchair lift van. Aspire was experiencing problems with transportation, facilitating multiple groups of individuals in the community simultaneously in congruence with its day rehabilitation program.

"The purchase of the new van should increase Aspire’s capabilities and expand their services," Senator Young said. "This will enhance Aspire’s great mission of helping individuals with special needs and their families."

"In order to meet growing needs in Chautauqua County, Aspire recently expanded its day services program," said Thomas Sy, Executive Director for Aspire of Western New York. "This program’s hallmark is to support people with developmental disabilities as they volunteer in the community. Aspire’s new wheelchair lift van, which was purchased in part through state funding secured by Senator Young, will make greater community inclusion a reality for many."
