State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, spoke at the Grand Opening Celebration and Re-Dedication at the Babylon Public Library held on April 2nd. Johnson announced to the crowd that the new State Budget includes $20 million in additional aid for local libraries across the state. The Babylon Public Library’s extensive expansion will enable the library to accommodate a larger number of patrons. Senator Johnson originally sponsored the legislation that made the library eligible for bonds that were issued on their behalf through the State Dormitory Authority.
"Libraries are the heart and soul of communities like Babylon Village. This new expansion and the additional state aid I secured will help Babylon Library enhance its services for years to come," said Senator Johnson.
