(New York, NY)—The Senate Democrat-sponsored Task Force was created to compile testimonies regarding the public school governance statute set to expire June 2009. The Task Force has invited parents and educators to provide input to assist the State Senate Democratic Conference in proposing legislation that will improve the educational system. Since the 2002 statute was adopted authorizing the Mayor to have sole control of vital decision making issues, parents have been disgruntled with having little to no input themselves.

Co-Chairs: Senators Martin  Connor (D-Manhattan), Martin Malave Dilan (D-Manhattan), Shirley Huntley (D-Jamaica)

Task Force Members: State Senators Ruben Diaz, Sr. (D-Bronx), Efrain Gonzalez, Jr. (D-Bronx), Liz Krueger (D-Manhattan), Velmanette Montgomery (D-Brooklyn), Suzi Oppenheimer (D-Mamaroneck), Kevin Parker (D-Brooklyn), Bill Perkins (D-Harlem), John Sampson (D-Brooklyn), and Toby Ann Stavisky (D-Queens)
