Senator Thompson Appoints Attorney Bob Knoer to Brownfield Advisory Board

Buffalo, NY – Antoine M. Thompson, NYS Senator, 60th District (Parts of Erie & Niagara Counties) and Chair of the Senate Environmental Conservation Committee appoints environmental law attorney Robert Knoer of The Knoer Group to the New York State Brownfield’s Advisory Board for the 2009-2012 term.
Robert Knoer has been practicing environmental law for twenty three years. He has worked in the areas of environmental remediation, the Brownfield Cleanup Program, environmental site review, land use, environmental consulting and litigation, and renewable energy development and siting. Robert Knoer graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1979 with a BA in government and from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1984 with Juris Doctorate. He has also been involved in various professional organizations such as Chairman of the Air & Waste Management Association – Niagara Frontier Section, current President of the Erie County Environmental Education Institute, a member of the Board of Directors of the Engineering Society of Buffalo, Chairman of the Wind Action Group and a member of the Daemen College Center for Sustainable Communities Advisory Board.
The New York State Brownfield’s Advisory Board is made up of fifteen members and was created primarily to monitor and evaluate the State’s implementation of the Brownfield Cleanup Program and Brownfield Opportunity Areas Program. The board is responsible for annually reporting to the Governor and the Legislature its assessment of the implementation of these two programs.
“I’m confident that with Mr. Knoer’s background and experience he will be an asset to the Brownfield Advisory Board,” stated Thompson.
