July 24, 2009
State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. announced that the New York State Senate has passed legislation he is sponsoring to provide property tax relief to veterans in the Town of Oyster Bay.
Senator Fuschillo’s legislation, which was cosponsored by State Senators Kemp Hannon and Carl Marcellino, would allow the Town of Oyster Bay to offer a property tax exemption to veterans who served during the Cold War. Veterans who served on federal active duty (other than training) in the armed forces between September 2, 1945 and December 26, 1991 and own their own home would be eligible.
The legislation has also been passed by the Assembly, where it is being sponsored by Assemblymembers Rob Walker, Joe Saladino, James Conte, and Charles Levine.
The bill will soon be delivered to Governor Paterson for final approval.
