Senator Golden Announces New Program to Solve Community Graffiti Problem

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) today announced a new program, City Solve, to be instituted in his district to address the community graffiti problem. Senator Golden was joined at the press conference by local leaders and merchants, along with the CitySolve graffiti cleaning vehicle, to officially introduce the program which he has funded entirely in the amount of $50,000 for the next year.

Senator Marty Golden, speaking at the press conference in front of a wall covered with graffiti at 80th Street and 5th Avenue, which was later cleaned, stated, “Today, we enter a period of zero tolerance for graffiti in this community. Graffiti is not only an eyesore, but it damages property, cause stores to close, people to lose jobs, and overall ruins the quality of life. We will not stand for it and this new program will be my partner in eradicating graffiti from our neighborhood.”

The City Solve Program will survey the community this month and begin to remove graffiti from store fronts, gates, and brick walls. The program both cleans and follows up on each location where graffiti was removed for maintenance.

Each month, the program vehicles will drive through the community and conduct an inspection, so to return where graffiti has reappeared for removal purposes.
