On the Road with Roy

Troy, November 20, 2009– Senator Roy McDonald was in Troy on Friday, where he met with two local civic organizations and visited a local business, he then traveled to Mechanicville to honor a local small business.

McDonald started the day at The Arts Center of the Capital District in Troy where he met with President Amy Williams and the organizations Board of Directors to discuss the goals and direction of the Arts Center.

More than 60 students from School 2 in Troy at the Arts Center where at the center learning about the classes, such as pottery and dance, that are available to them.

Recognizing the importance of locally owned businesses, McDonald visited Troy Downtown Collaborative Director Elizabeth Young at her store the “Living Room.” The two discussed improvements to the downtown area to attract businesses and shoppers.

At the last stop in Troy, McDonald met with the Lansingburgh Historical Society. He was joined by Historian/Curator Gordon Brown and members of their board to learn about the goals of the society. The meetings primary focus was the preservation of the Lansingburgh Old Village Cemetery, which is home to many Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War Soldiers.

To finish the day, McDonald stopped in Mechanicville to give Faldoni’s Delicatessen and Catering Company a Small Business in Excellence Award. Faldoni’s opened its doors in June 2007 and is owned by John & Tressy Falco and Dave & Megan Quillinan. The Delicatessen is located in downtown Mechanicville and offers a wide range of homemade dining options for local residents.
