Senator Saland Applauds Bipartisan Reform of the Senate
Stephen M. Saland
June 9, 2009
Today, thirty-two members of the Senate elected for a change in leadership and more importantly voted for real reform of the Senate. The Senate Republicans with the support of two members of the Democrat conference adopted rules which create a more transparent, open process and establish equitable representation among all regions of the State.
I am encouraged and hopeful that our bipartisan coalition elected today will deliver reform and results which will place the Senate in a much better position to get our State back on the road to fiscal recovery.
This is a historic moment, of which I am proud to have participated. Members of both parties will have input in the process, and the result will surely be a government representative of the people.
