Saland secured grant for technology upgrades for District

Senator Steve Saland (R,I,C Poughkeepsie) will be honored by Taconic Hills Central School District on Monday, June 8th at 11:15 AM for securing $37,882 in state grants for technology upgrades.

“Schools need the latest technology to help their students succeed in a hi-tech world.  But the drum beat from overburdened property taxpayers is loud and clear,” said Senator Saland.  “This grant will help Taconic Hills achieve its technology goals without passing the costs on to local taxpayers.”

“Senator Saland was instrumental in acquiring funding for our school to enable our students to have up-to-date equipment in the multi-media centers,” stated Dr. Mark Sposato, Superintendent of Schools.  “It is important to integrate the latest technology and expose our students to the technology skills they will need to excel in the global community.”

Dr. Sposato added, ”Ms. Waterhouse and Ms. Frederick’s Spanish classes were using video streaming in an interactive Spanish Language Website in the updated multi-media center in the High School.  Grants obtained by Senator Saland allowed the Information Technology Department to purchase and install interactive white board systems, LCD projectors, document readers, and digital cameras in all the Multi-media Centers in the District.  The new technology is supported by the upgraded broadband access on fiber optic cable, recently installed by Fairpoint Communications.”

Senator Saland will join Superintendent Sposato on June 8th to see how the equipment purchased with the grant Saland secured is being used, and talk to students about the new technology.
