Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) recently announced that the New York State Department of Health has introduced the New York Prescription $aver (NYP$) program.  The NYP$ is a free discount card that can help reduce the cost of prescriptions for lower income residents.

“Members can save as much as 60 percent on generic and 30 percent on brand name drugs,” said Senator Larkin, “For those who are eligible, this card will provide much needed relief during these tough economic times.”

New Yorkers who are ages 50 to 64, or persons of any age who have been determined disabled by the Social Security Administration, are eligible to join.  The annual income limits for the program are $35,000 for singles and $50,000 joint income for married persons.  Those with Medicaid coverage are not eligible.

Applications for the NYP$ card are available through Senator Bill Larkin’s District Office in New Windsor which can be reached by calling 567-1270.  You may also apply online at http://nyprescriptionsaver.fhsc.com, download a New York Prescription $aver application from the website and mail it in, or call the toll-free Helpline at 1-800-788-6917.
