State Seantor Brian X. Foley (D - Blue Point) released the following statement in response to Gov. Paterson's propsoed changes to the MTA payroll tax structure:
“While the governor has taken a step in the right direction with his proposal, it still does not do enough to address the concerns of Suffolk County. My bill, which honored my commitment to revisit this issue, deals with each county based on ridership and service level. Each county in my bill is looked at separately, and in the governor’s proposal they are not. While I appreciate the governor’s intent, more needs to be done, and I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss this with him.”
