Take a Ride on the Tuckahoe Trolley

Senator Klein, Generoso Pope Foundation and Village of Tuckahoe Launch New Tuckahoe Trolley

TUCKAHOE, NY – State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), Chairman David Pope of the Generoso Pope Foundation and Tuckahoe Mayor John Fitzpatrick launched the new Tuckahoe Trolley on Friday, August 13th. Elected officials and foundation representatives christened the trolley and took an inaugural ride through the village with community members.

“Small businesses are truly the backbone of our community. The Tuckahoe Trolley will make it easier for residents of Eastchester, Tuckahoe, and Bronxville to shop right in their own backyard and pump much needed funds into our local economy,” said State Senator Jeff Klein.

“The Generoso Pope Foundation recognizes that this combined effort to provide a trolley service throughout the Town of Eastchester will afford seniors, the youth, and families a low cost mode of transportation. This trolley is a great asset to Eastchester and the community at large,” said David Pope, Chairman of the Generoso Pope Foundation.

The Tuckahoe Trolley will operate and make stops in Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville, with the exact route posted on the Trolley car. David Pope covered the upfront cost of the Trolley of $167,000; Senator Klein is providing a grant to cover $120,000 of that cost. The Village of Tuckahoe will be handling insurance and maintenance of the car.

“I always enjoy partnering with both Senator Klein and the Generoso Pope Foundation, and so I am very pleased that we are standing together today to launch the Tuckahoe Trolley. The trolley will provide a great boon to local residents and businesses alike,” said Tuckahoe Mayor John Fitzpatrick.
