On Thursday, November 11th, we will celebrate Veterans Day. As a proud supporter of those who have served, and continue to serve, our great country on a daily basis, I wanted to let you know of events that are taking place throughout the week to honor our veterans. I hope that you will be able to join me in celebrating that our veterans have done for us.
Tuesday, November 9th:
Veteran's Day Concert featuring Greece Performing Arts Society Members, including Greece Concert Band, Greece Choral Society and Greece Community Orchestra. The American Legion Color Guard will present the Call to Colors. This begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Greece Athena Performing Arts Center, 800 Long Pond Road. Admission is free, and more information, visit www.greeceperformingarts.org.
Wednesday, November 10th:
Rock Out for Vets: Joey T. and the Formula with Catch 22 and the Gates Keystone Club Police Pipe and Drum Band. This event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Nola's BBQ, 4775 Lake Ave. Tickets cost $10 with proceeds benefit the Veterans Outreach Center.
The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra with Jeff Tyzik, conductor, will perform a program of patriotic music beginning at 8:00 p.m. at Koak Hall at Eastman Theatre, 60 Gibbs Street. Tickets cost $5. Military veterans can get free tickets while supplies last. Visit www.rpo.org for more information.
Thursday, November 11th:
The Community War Memorial, 1 War Memorial Square, will host a Veteran's Day Service beginning at 9:30 a.m. This event is open to all veterans, families, and the community and is free.
Ontario Beach Park in Charlotte will host a wreath-laying presented by Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. The guest speaker will be Mitchell Kaidy, a former journalist and legislative speechwriter who served in the U.S. Third Army under Lt. Gen. George Patton during the Battle of the Bulge. The event begins at 11:00 and is free.
The United States Postal Service will host its 2010 Veterans Day Ceremony at the United States Post Office located at 1335 Jefferson Road. The event begins at 11:00 a.m.
The Rochester Veterans Center will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house from 1:30 until 4:00 p.m. The Rochester Veterans Center is located at 2000 S. Winton Road, Building 5, Suite 201.
