(l-r) Riverhead Town Councilwoman Jodi Giglio, Long Island Farm Executive Board Vice President Frank Beyrodt, Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy, Senator Ken LaValle, Supervisor Sean Walter, Riverhead Town Councilman George Gabrielsen, Long Island Farm Executive Board President Mark Zaweski, Ms. Kozak, and Suffolk County Legislator Edward Romaine
Senator Kenneth P. LaValle joined Suffolk County and Town of Riverhead in announcing the county’s purchase of development rights at the 30-acre Kozak family farm in Riverhead. The preservation of this farm is in keeping with the Senator’s vision to protect open space and Suffolk County’s valued agricultural industry. The Kozak Farm, which grows cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes, squash, and some pumpkins, lies adjacent to previously preserved farmland, creating a total of 189 contiguous preserved acres stretching north from Reeves Avenue to Sound Avenue. This purchase requires the final approval of the Suffolk County Legislature.
