Senate President Malcolm A. Smith Recognizes Queens Business Woman as Constituent of the Month

Senate President Malcolm A. Smith honored Eva G. Duzant, Founder and CEO of E. G. Edwards & Associates Inc. as his April constituent of the month.

Her company is based in Queens and specializes in accounting and taxation.

“I think it’s important and necessary to recognize the constituents of my district that are volunteering of their time and giving of themselves to make the community a better place to live. In these hard economic times Eva Duzant’s organization is dedicated to ensuring that the residents of Queens are financially responsible.,” said Senator Smith.

Ms. Duzant worked more than 25 years in the banking industry, culminating in a six-year stint as an auditor.

Currently, Ms. Duzant is working towards her Masters of Divinity at New Brunswick Seminary. She is President of the Southern Baptist Church Credit Union, a member of the Willing Worker Chorus, and a Sunday school teacher.

A strong believer in community involvement, Ms. Duzant currently serves as the acting president of the Cambria Heights Development Corporation. She is also the treasurer of the 232nd Street Block Association.

Ms. Duzant is a member of The Institute of Internal Auditors, The New York Society of Independent Accountant, National Society of Public Accountants and National Association of Tax Professionals. She is also the Author of her first book “The Crate,” a children’s book which has been approved by the New York City Department of Education.

Ms. Duzant lives in Queens, New York. She is the proud mother of one daughter; and has two grandchildren.
