Hundreds of local residents visited the Freeport Recreation Center to receive information about job training, career counseling, and other employment advice through a Job Resource Expo sponsored by Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick).

“I’m extremely pleased that so many people were able to take advantage of these services. At a time when over 116,000 Long Islanders are unemployed and competition for jobs is extremely high, there is a significant need for services that better prepare individuals to find a job or a new career. This event helped residents learn the tools to land the job they want,” said Senator Fuschillo.

Representatives from 22 different government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and colleges provided a host of different services to those in attendance. Residents were able to have their resumes reviewed, get information about job training programs, and learn job searching tips & interviewing skills. Information was also provided about upcoming civil service exams, continuing education, social service assistance programs, and starting a small business.

Residents who were unable to attend Senator Fuschillo’s Job Resource Expo but would like information about any of the services that were offered can call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630 or email him through his website, fuschillo.nysenate.gov.
