Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently visited Freeport High School to congratulate the Red Devils Varsity Football Team on winning the 2010 Long Island Conference I Championship.

The team captured the championship by defeating William Floyd High School by a score of 62-35. The victory marked the second straight championship for the Red Devils.

“The Freeport High School Football Team spent countless hours practicing, training, and working hard in pursuit of a championship. For the second year in a row, their efforts earned them a wonderful reward; the top spot among all of Long Island’s Conference I football teams. I congratulate them on their incredible accomplishment,” said Senator Fuschillo.

Senator Fuschillo presented the team with copies of a legislative resolution he sponsored, which was passed by the State Senate, in honor of the team’s championship season. With passage of the resolution, the team’s coaches and athletes will forever have their names and accomplishment be part of the official record of the New York State Senate.
