Senator Fuschillo Helps Local Residents “Shed Their Meds”

Program Collects Over 500 Pounds of Expired or Unwanted Medications for Safe Disposal

Over 500 pounds of expired and unwanted medications were kept out of the waterways and off the streets through a recent “Shed the Meds” program sponsored by Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick).  

Residents came from all across the south shore to safely dispose of their expired or unwanted medications through the program. Residents were able to drive up, drop off their expired or unwanted medications, and drive away. All medications collected through the program were taken by the Nassau County Police Department for safe disposal. 

The Nassau County Police Department and the Village of Massapequa Park partnered with Senator Fuschillo in sponsoring the program. 

“I am pleased that so many residents took advantage of this important service. Through this program we were able to keep over 500 pounds of medications from polluting the environment or falling into the hands of those who would use them improperly. I thank everyone who helped make this program a tremendous success,” said Senator Fuschillo.
