Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today joined with Supervisor Kate Murray, Councilwoman Angie Cullin, and other local leaders and residents in announcing that Aqua is abandoning its plan to build a 150 foot water tower in Wantagh.

"Aqua withdrawing its Wantagh water tower application is welcome news for the Wantagh and Seaford communities. Residents voiced serious concerns about how this project would greatly diminish their quality of life. I shared their concerns completely, as did Supervisor Murray, Councilwoman Cullin, and many other local leaders. I am pleased that Aqua listened to the community's input, responded to our concerns, and is abandoning this proposal," said Senator Fuschillo.

Aqua had been seeking approval from the Town of Hempstead Zoning Board of Appeals to erect a 150 foot water tower on DeMott Avenue in Wantagh. Hundreds of Wantagh and Seaford homeowners strongly opposed the project because of the negative impact it would have on their quality of life. Senator Fuschillo and other local leaders, including Supervisor Murray and Councilwoman Cullin, shared residents’ concerns and joined them in opposing the proposal. Aqua withdrew its application and abandoned the proposal in light of these concerns.
