Senator Fuschillo Welcomes Members of Lupus Alliance of America to Albany

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently welcomed members of the Lupus Alliance of America, Long Island/Queens Affiliate to the State Capitol.  

The group was in Albany to raise awareness about lupus and advocate for lupus patients as part of Lupus Awareness Month. They watched as a resolution proclaiming May as “Lupus Awareness Month” in New York State was read on the floor of the Senate. They also thanked Senator Fuschillo for his continued support of their organization. 

Lupus is a chronic disorder of the immune system which causes inflammation of various parts of the body. Lupus affects people in different ways; for some, it can cause serious and life threatening problems. 

            The Lupus Alliance of America is a group of agencies that have come together to provide needed services to those affected by lupus within their local communities. The organization promotes public awareness programs, serves as an advocate for those affected by lupus, works with health professionals to improve the standards of diagnosis and treatment of lupus, and supports lupus research.
