State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) and the Independent Democratic Conference yesterday sent a letter suggesting specific recommendations to Governor Cuomo’s Spending and Government Efficiency (SAGE) Commission, tasked with redesigning and streamlining the expansive New York State government.
The letter encourages co-chairs Paul Francis and Antonio Perez to consider recommendations made by the IDC in several reports about efficiencies and wasteful spending, including consolidation of the state’s several inspectors general offices, risk management planning and elimination of duplicative services and outside contracting within certain agencies.
Overall, the IDC proposals would amount to more than $1.1 billion in recurring savings over the next decade. Of that, specific recommendations that would result in at least $500 million in savings fall within the SAGE Commission’s parameters.
The text of the letter is attached. Copies of the reports may be accessed
