Cites Weapons of Mass Destruction Arrest in Texas

ALBANY, NY (2/25/2011)- State Senator Gregory Ball (R,C-Carmel) Chairmen of the Senate’s Homeland Security Committee, would like to applaud the efforts of the FBI in their investigation and arrest of Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, 20, a citizen of Saudi Arabia and resident of Lubbock, Texas, in connection with his alleged researching of potential U.S. targets and his purchase of the chemicals and the equipment necessary to make an improvised explosive device.

Nearing the 10 year anniversary of 9-11, Senator Ball is calling for Homeland Security Hearings to be held by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security in April. The goal will be to assess the security of New York City and the State, now 10 years after 9-11. “The events that transpired in Texas yesterday, show that the battle against terror, and their war against us, has not even begun.  As New Yorkers we live in the world’s most likely terrorist target and as the ten year anniversary of 9-11 grows near, we must assess the measures that are being taken to protect our citizens from these types of threats, as well as what preventative measures we should be taking to ensure our continued safety.”

In partnership with local governments and law enforcement personnel, Senator Ball will be holding a Homeland Security Hearing in New York City on April 8th 2011 from 10-5, to discuss the state of New York’s Homeland security initiatives. Several key experts have been invited including Congressman Peter King of New York and Chairman of the US House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security.
