Statement from Senator John Flanagan Regarding Death of Osama Bin Laden

John J. Flanagan

May 3, 2011

The death of Osama Bin Laden is welcome news for our nation and our state.  As the mastermind behind the deadly 9/11 terror attacks and numerous other attacks throughout the world, Bin Laden was a continuous threat to our residents and I congratulate President Obama for authorizing the military action that removed this criminal.

Most importantly, I would like to thank the brave men and women who are fighting the war on terror for keeping all of us safe from further attacks.  This attack, while sanctioned by our elected officials, was achieved through the actions of the volunteer members of the armed forces and we should all be grateful for their efforts this and every day.

As our nation approaches the 10th Anniversary of the 9/11, this news will hopefully provide the families of those who were lost on that fateful day with some comfort in knowing that one of the major figures in the events of that day has finally faced the ultimate justice.

This is an historic day in the history of our nation and our state.  We should all come together to let the world know that we still stand together against those who attempt to instill fear.

God Bless the United States of America.
