José M. Serrano
August 16, 2011
Today, Senator Jose M. Serrano visited the 25th and the 40th precincts to honor New York City Police Officers and present to them a proclamation at the 28th annual National Night Out.
“It is very important for us to acknowledge and thank our local police officers for the great work they do in our communities,” said Senator Serrano. “Not only is New York City one of the largest cities in the world, it’s also the safest. This is in great part due to the amazing men and women who work daily to improve our communities and keep us safe.”
National Night Out was created to heighten crime and drug awareness, generate support and participation in anticrime programs, and to strengthen the neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships. National Night Out was celebrated with a variety of events and activities, which included barbecues, block parties, contests, and youth programs.
