Griffo Tapped to Join Key Policy Committee
State Senator Joseph A. Griffo (R-C-IP, Rome) announced that he has been named to the Senate Finance Committee by Majority Leader Dean Skelos.
The Finance Committee is considered one the busiest of the Senate committees. It is in charge of reviewing the state budget and all legislation with a financial impact on the state and as such, is also considered among the most influential of committees.
Griffo said he is honored and humbled by his selection to the Finance Committee, "This will be a tremendous responsibility, especially in light of the challenging fiscal dynamics that we’re all working under. The Senate Finance Committee can be an important check in providing financial discipline for budgeting in state government.”
Griffo pointed out that he was pleased to participate in one of the committee’s other tasks – the responsibility of considering gubernatorial appointments, “I was fortunate in that one of my first duties as a member of this committee, was to move forward the nomination of Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito as Commissioner of the Office of General Services,” he said. “State services will benefit immediately from her experience and expertise.”
Senator Griffo will continue to serve as the Chair of the Senate Banks Committee.
