Senator Golden Plants a Tree in Brooklyn to Commemorate Arbor Day

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today commemorated New York State’s celebration of Arbor Day by donating a Pink Dogwood tree that was planted in the garden next to the entrance of the new extension constructed at Public School 229.

Senator Golden was joined by Public School 229 Principal Robert Zappulla and Assistant Principal Jared Shapiro. Students of the 3rd Grade participated in the ceremony which was organized to recognize the importance of trees and the impact they make in our lives.

Senator Golden stated, “Today, we celebrate Arbor Day in New York State and I am proud to have visited Public School 229 to bring awareness to the students of the true value of trees within our society. It is important that we make sure that our youth learn to respect and care for our environment and do so throughout their lives. By teaching such lessons at our schools, we are ensuring a better world for all to live in now and in the future.”

Arbor Day is nationally celebrated and encourages tree planting and tree care. Additionally, it highlights the importance of tree to our environment, our economy and our quality of life.
