Senator Golden’s Statement on the Murder of Police Officer Peter Figoski
Martin J. Golden
December 12, 2011
Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), a former New York City Police Officer, has issued the following statement in response to the murder of New York City Police Officer Peter Figoski:
“This morning I was informed of the brutal murder of Officer Peter Figoski. My deepest condolences go out to his family, and as a former member of the NYPD, I know too well the dangers every member of the force faces protecting our citizens and keeping New York safe.
“I am relieved to hear that the suspect is in custody, and I once again call for my colleagues in the State Legislature to pass legislation allowing the death penalty for anyone who murders a police officer. It’s time we showed that if you kill a police officer, you must pay the ultimate price. We must guarantee every protection to our law enforcement officers as they seek to serve and protect all of us each and every day.”
