50 Businesses, Agencies at Career Expo Thursday

Fulton Event Can Help CNYers Find New Careers

State Senator Patty Ritchie’s Career and Resource Expo on Thursday will feature 50 businesses and agencies looking to help Central New Yorkers find new careers.

“With the economy picking up, companies are starting to hire,” Senator Ritchie said. “This event will help people reentering the job market, high school and college grads and folks who are looking for new careers to see what’s available in the greater Oswego area.”

“Whether you are interested in getting help writing a new resume or just want to brush up on your job interview skills, you’ll be able to learn about job training and educational opportunities,” Senator Ritchie said. The Expo will run from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Fulton War Memorial on West Broadway.

Employers signed up to participate include: Adecco Employment, All-Metro Health Services, Bishop Commons, Comforce Staffing (DeWitt), Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, Johnson Controls, Contemporary Personnel Services, Dignity Plus Inc., Eagle Beverage Company, Entergy Nuclear Northeast, Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Harbor Lights, HSBC, Kinney Drugs, Local Union 195 Roofers, Local Union 633 Laborers, Local Union 73 Plumbers & Steamfitters, Longanberger, Lowe's (Oswego store), Metro Fence, Michaud Health Services, Northern Oswego County Health Services, Inc. (NOCHSI), Novelis, Oswego County OBGYN, Oswego County Opportunities, Oswego Health, Oswego Industries, Securitas Security Services, Sunrise Residential Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, United States Army, WalMart, Dunkin Donuts, Wholesale Homes, Diane's Boutique Avon, Oswego County - Civil Service office and Oswego County Workforce New York.

Resource agencies participating in the Expo include: Arise, Catholic Charities of Oswego County, Cayuga Community College, Centro Bus, Consumer Credit Counseling, Fidelis Care New York, Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County, Oswego County BOCES, Oswego County Dept. of Social Services, Oswego County Opportunities, Oswego Public Library - Public Computing Center and SUNY Oswego Business Development Office.

The event is free and open to the public, and preregistration is recommended by calling Senator Ritchie's Oswego office at (315) 342-2057.

The event will also offer workshops on job hunting on the internet, career counseling and will provide information on starting your own business at this first of a kind event.

The Career and Resource Expo will help people see how the skills they’ve obtained over their lifetimes can be adapted by other employers. The event is cosponsored by the City of Fulton, Mayor Ron Woodward, United Way, the SUNY Oswego Business Development Center, the Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and Workforce New York
