In Clayton, Ritchie Discusses Frink Site Redevelopment

State Senator Patty Ritchie recently met with Clayton Mayor Norma Zimmer and Clayton Town Supervisor Justin Taylor to discuss several ongoing projects in the Clayton area including the redevelopment of the Frink site.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced the $1.5 million clean up had been completed last year, clearing the way for reuse of the 8-acre parcel on the St. Lawrence River.

“Located near the town docks on the beautiful St. Lawrence River, the Frink site provides us with an outstanding opportunity to grow Clayton’s economy by reusing this property that had been an eyesore and an environmental problem for years,” Senator Ritchie said. “Clayton’s community leaders deserve a great deal of credit for working with the DEC to turn what had been a major problem into what is now a major asset.”

“Clayton’s local leadership in redeveloping this property will serve as a model for communities across Northern and Central New York, showing how partnerships with New York State and the DEC can help the environment and the local economy,” Senator Ritchie said. “I want to commend the Clayton Local Development Corporation, the town and village of Clayton, Jefferson County,  the Development Authority of the North Country, the state department of Health and the DEC.” 

In addition, the senator met with officials from the town of Alexandria to discuss the extension of the Rt. 12 water line and planned development along that corridor. Senator Ritchie told  the  local officials that she would discuss these projects with members of the regional economic development council in an effort to enhance development in the river communities.
