State Senator Patty Ritchie attended Sunday's Morristown Chamber of Commerce Chili Cook Off.
"When the Morristown Chamber of Commerce contacted me and asked for my help to make sure that their annual chili cook off could be held, I told them I would do everything I could to insure that this North Country tradition continued," she said. "That's why I spent Sunday
morning with the contestants at the chili cook off."
"By working together we were able to insure that the grand daddy of St. Lawrence County chili cook offs continued as a major event for the people of St. Lawrence County," she said. "On Friday, I met with regional representatives of the New York State Health Department to make sure they were aware of the concerns that have been raised by local chamber officials. On Sunday, I met with the health department inspectors at the chil cook off and made sure they were aware of the concerns that have been raised."
"I want to commend Morristown Chamber President Herb Holmes and the chili contestants for their efforts," she said. "I intend to take the issues that have been raised to officials in Albany to see what can be done to insure that our local community groups can continue to hold these kind of fundraising events."
