CALLING ALL EMPLOYERS, JOB HUNTERS-- REGISTER TODAY

St. Lawrence County’s state Senators, Patty Ritchie and Joseph Griffo, are calling for employers to participate in a first-ever, countywide Job Fair and Career Expo, to be held Tuesday, Sept. 27, from 2 PM to 6 PM, at the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows (IOOF) Hall in Ogdensburg.

The event is expected to draw hundreds of job-seekers, and those looking to hone their job-hunt skills, find better careers and other opportunities.

"We are inviting North Country businesses and agencies that provide services, education and training to join us at our Expo," Senator Ritchie said. "A lot of people don't realize that even in the current tough economy, St. Lawrence County does have businesses, health care agencies and educational institutions that are hiring and providing good paying jobs."

"In addition to meeting potential employers, we’re hoping to show people who are looking for a job or exploring new career options what kinds of training programs and educational services are available to help them get the kind of job they want," Senator Griffo said. "People are sometimes surprised at the number of high paying jobs that are available in Northern New York if you have the right combination of skills and experience."

The event will feature career counseling, and workshops on resume-writing, interview skills, and information about starting your own business.

"Whether you are a small business owner looking to hire new employees or an individual looking to improve or change your career, our first ever St. Lawrence County-wide Job Fair can provide you with the help you need,” Senator Ritchie said. “Helping my friends and neighbors find a career is my top priority. This event will help people see the opportunities we have right here.”

The Ogdensburg Jobs Expo comes on the heels of Senator Ritchie’s first of a kind jobs fair in Fulton in Oswego County last spring that featured over 50 exhibitors and drew over 300 participants.

The Expo will also provide free exhibit space for human service agencies that provide resources to individuals and families.

Participation in the Expo is free. Exhibit spaces are free. Businesses and agencies can reserve a space and obtain additional details by
