Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

June 13, 2012

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that the New York State Senate recently passed a legislative resolution he sponsored honoring Lindenhurst resident Joseph T. Mackey for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

“Joseph’s dedication to helping others in need is admirable,” said Senator Fuschillo. “He is a wonderful example of what hard work and determination can accomplish, and I am certain that great things lie ahead for this incredible young man,” said Senator Fuschillo.

Joseph is a member of Troop 183 and his community service project was a three day food drive during which he distributed collection bags through his neighborhood and set up donation bins at local supermarkets. Joseph’s commitment to helping those in need culminated with over 2,914 pounds of food collected for Island Harvest, a hunger relief organization that in turn supplemented 2,277 meals for hungry Long Islanders.

With the passage of this resolution, Joseph’s achievements will forever be part of the official record of the New York State Senate.
