NANUET, NY – Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) and the Lions Club of North Rockland today announced that they will be hosting a free eye screening program for children between the ages of 2 – 5 years old.  The program helps identify children with amblyopia and is conducted in partnership with the Ira G. Ross Eye Institute.

The event will be held next Monday, October 8th from 10:00am – 2:00pm at Senator Carlucci’s District Office, located at 95 South Middletown Road, Nanuet.

“Early eye examinations are critical for the health and well being of children, and this event that we are hosting will hopefully ensure that every child has the gift of sight for many years to come,” said Senator Carlucci.  “I would like to thank the Lions Club of North Rockland for working with my office to arrange this free event for every child to take advantage.”

Specialty trained Lions Club volunteers will conduct as simple photo vision screening for children whose parents have registered for the quick, noninvasive test.  Results will then be read and evaluated by professionals at the Ira G. Ross Eye Institute.

Parents will be informed of any results that may require further testing, including follow up information provided.

Registration is required.  Anyone interested in having their child participate should call Senator Carlucci’s office at (845) 623-3627.
