Senator Serrano today attended "It's My Park Day" at Franz Sigel Park in the Bronx! This event was sponsored by William Casari and Partnerships for Parks. Partnerships for Parks is a joint program of City Parks Foundation and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. “It’s My Park Day” is celebrated by thousands of New Yorkers who volunteer to help beautify their local parks by painting, planting bulbs, and providing general clean-up among other ways.
“’It’s My Park Day’ always brings the community together to preserve and care for our local parks,” said Senator Serrano. “Parks not only improve our quality of life, but they also beautify our neighborhoods and improve our health. It is important for us to give back to our parks and make sure they are well taken care of. In the past few years, we have been able to continuously improve our local parks for generations to come. I commend Project Leader Bill Casari and the Hostos Community College volunteers for making this neighborhood project possible.”
Senator Serrano has been a long time advocate for the preservation of parks and currently serves as Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation, and sits on the Committee for Environmental Conservation.
