Senator Serrano and the Office of Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson today sponsored a Free Identity Theft Workshop in the Bronx at Hope of Israel Senior Center. The workshop featured a presentation by Assistant District Attorney Daniel Klein on strategies criminals are using to steal identities and ways to avoid becoming a victim.
“Unfortunately, identity theft happens every day and it can happen to anyone”, said Senator Serrano. “The State of New York has the most recorded number of identity theft complaints. Fortunately, there are small steps we can all take to protect ourselves from becoming victimized. Being aware of our surroundings and ensuring that our private information and cards are securely put away can minimize our chances of identity theft. I would like to thank the Office of Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson and Assistant District Attorney Daniel Klein for providing this highly important informative workshop and Hope of Israel Senior Center for hosting the event.”
The event was attended by members of Hope of Israel Senior Center as well as community residents.
